This year, Breckenridge is excited to announce the new and improved Colorado SuperChair at the base of Peak 8.
Since 1985, the Colorado SuperChair has serviced the Vista Haus and Peak 8 ski terrain with its four pack detachable quad. Before that, Chair One, the first lift on Peak 8, was stationed there.
The new Colorado SuperChair features a detachable six pack, as well as a moving carpet at the load point. These two upgrades allow for a 30% increase in skier movement up the hill, decreasing wait times and giving guest more time on the slopes.
This video highlights the construction process on the new Colorado SuperChair this summer. We once again used a K-Max helicopter to remove the old towers and terminals, and replace them with the upgraded components.
Environmental impact was extremely low for this project. The old tower and terminal materials are being recycled, and the old four pack chairs are being used to upgrade the Beaver Run SuperChair.
You may remember the Peak 6 construction series last summer. What you didn't see there was the haul line splicing process and load test. Both of these process are crucial points in the development of the chair, so check that out in our video.
