Rod Millen guided the Toyota TMG EV P002 electric race car to a fourth-place result in the Electric Class in the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb historic event on the 14,110-foot mountain outside Colorado Springs, Colo.  Millen registered a time of just under ten-and-a-half minutes (10:24.301) on the 12.42-mile, 156-turn course.  The New Zealand-native finished 16th overall among 144 competitors in the 91st running of the race up Pikes Peak.
On a course that was made more challenging by heavy rain, clouds and sleet -- Millen's time was slightly slower than last year's Electric Class win by driver Fumio Nutahara (10:15.380) in the Toyota TMG EV P002 on a dry course.   TRD, U.S.A. (Toyota Racing Development) oversaw competition efforts for the Toyota TMG EV P002, which was significantly upgraded by TRD in Salisbury, N.C., after Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) made enhancements to the electric powertrain in Germany.
Weâ??re in the business of making great cars and trucks. But we also work every day to apply and share our know-how in ways that benefit people, the community and our planet in order to build a better tomorrow. Weâ??ve been a part of life in America for over 50 years. And while weâ??re passionate about making great cars and trucks, our story is about much more than our vehicles.
