Saas-Fee Pearl of
the Alps winner of the international ski area award
Saas-Fee was the winner of the international ski area award 2001/02, presented
annually by the specialist magazine "Seilbahn + Bus". Out of
a total of 15 top ski areas in the Alps, Saas-Fee came first. In the last
8 years a total of 102 different ski areas have been judged. To date,
this award has only been held by two ski areas in Switzerland.
 Furthermore,
we won first prize in the individual category "Information at the
desk". In winter the ski area was visited on several occasions by
anonymous assessors who judged the Saas-Fee mountain transport company
on the following criteria: friendliness of the staff, performance of the
equipment and transport system, overall technical performance of the cable-car
network, piste maintenance and preparation, closures and blockades, artificial
snow canons, snowboard equipment, safety precautions, piste rescue, staff
dress and information at the desk. This award confirms>the Saas-Fee
mountain transport system's commitment to its guests and maps out the
path for the future.
Saas-Fee wins the 1st Winter sports diamond award
This year for the first time the Dutch Ski Association launched a competition
for the winter sports resort which has best maintained its standards.
10 resorts in Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland were nominated.
On 14th September 2002 Saas-Fee officials were presented with the Winter
sports diamond award in Amsterdam's olympic stadium.

Saas-Fee fun park
The new fun park at the Kalbermatten sports ground will get every child's
heart racing. The kids can learn to ski; a magic carpet makes the acent
easier. Sure, that the kids will have a lot of fun.......
A special attraction is the tubing; that means a tyre on that you can
sit
down and slide down the hill.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Ski tests in Saas-Fee
In autumn and at the beginning of winter there are a lot of ski tests
made
by several sport shops of Saas-Fee. For this reason there are about 700
different skis of the most famous brands available. So than let's start
to
have fun on the glacier.
Attention: Don 't forget the Après Ski.

December 9th- 12th: Rip Curl Freeski Event
Freeski became in the past years a real trend sport. The twin-tip skis
allowthe athlete to ski in the halfpipe, to do the big-air and to ski
in the slope style. Famous because of the X-Games with origin in the USA.
Saas-Fee will be the first ski resort in Switzerland with this kind of
event. The 20 worldbest athletes will participate at the Rip Curl Freeski
Event.
From 16 th of December 2002: Snow Sculptures in Saas-Fee Saas-Fee is proud
to present the first Snow Sculpture Symposium. In front of the Alpin Express
nine artists will build up a Snow Sculpture Park. The subject of this
year will be "Pearls of Snow". Saas-Fee Tourism will offer different
activities in the Snow Sculpture Park such as guest receptions, aperitifs
and music.
 January
4th - 11th : Dutch Snowboard Championship
The best dutch snowboarders will compete in Slalom, in the halfpipe and
big-air. Exciting turns and tricks are guaranteed! After the competition
the snowboard scene
will meet for après-ski in the trendy Popcorn Plaza on the slope.
In the evening there will be parties in the Popcorn "The Snowboardpoint"
until to the early morning.
January 23 th - 25th:
4th Ice-Climbing
Worldcup Already for the fourth time Saas-Fee will present the Ice Climbing
Worldcup.
The 30 meter high
ice wall is situated in the parking house where it is
protected from wind and snow. From every floor of the parking house the
spectators can watch the competition. In the evening will be a special
party in the arena of the parking house with an unique atmosphere.
April 4th - 5th : Allalin Open Downhill
The Mittelallalin Open Downhill will be held between Mittelallalin (3600
m over sea level) and Saas-Fee (1800 m). It is the highest downhill on
a glacier worldwide. Participants from every part of Switzerland will
compete.

A special offer for families for winter 2002/2003 The alpine ski resort
of Saas-Fee, with 100 km of ski pistes situated between 1,800 and 3,600
m above sea-level, is offering a unique
package for families for the coming winter season. If the parents and
one child each purchase a ski-pass valid for at least 6 days, or alternatively
a ski-pass for 5 days valid over a period of 7 days, then the second child
and any additional children (up to the age of 16), ski free for the same
duration. Thus a 6-day Saas-Fee ski-pass for the whole family costs only
Fr. 754.- and a 5-day pass valid for 7 days costs Fr. 686.-, making Saas-Fee
one of the most attractive ski resorts for families in Switzerland as
far as prices are concerned. This offer applies to the Saas-Fee ski-pass
and also
to the SAAS ski-pass (including Saas-Fee).
Allalin Week Packages
The Tourist Office has compiled a new winter package giving our guests
greater freedom. In the basic programme you can find overnight stays in
the Fee Glacier hotels and classified holiday apartments, including a
ski pass for 3 or 6 days. For those who like sociability mixed with action
in their holidays, we have prepared 3 different "Experience packages":
"Off-piste-skiing", "Fun on the glacier pistes" and
"High-altitude snow-shoe trekking". The all-inclusive packages
can be booked at favourable prices
throughout the winter (Christmas / New Year just 14 days).
