TELLURIDE, Colo. (October
29, 2004) -Thanks to an overnight storm that hit
the San Juan Mountains, Telluride is officially wearing its winter whites.
Locals awoke to a town and ski area covered in snow. Mountain crews are
reporting eight inches of new snow and a snow depth of up to 30 inches
at
the top of Lift Six.
The National Weather
Service is calling for more snow this weekend. "The
storm couldn't have come at a better time. The snow is dense and heavy-a
great consistency for a base," said Pete Woods, vice president sales
and
marketing for the Telluride Ski & Golf Company (Telski). "The
mountain is
shaping up nicely for opening day."
The Telluride Ski
Resort opens Nov. 24, 2004. Ski season kicks off with
Donation Day, a fundraiser for the Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club.
Lift
tickets are $24 for everyone, including Season Pass holders (except
children five and under ski free); all lift ticket proceeds will be donated
to the club. For more information, visit tellurideskiresort.com.
