Winter Has Arrived

Snowboarding News | Sunday February 02, 2014 | Shared By: Bear Mountain

Better late than never! After a month long warm spell and a snow drought we are back to winter. Roughly two inches of snow layered our slopes Thursday night and cold temps ever since have provided perfect snowmaking conditions. This cool trend is forecasted to last over a week and we will be taking full advantage of it. We plan to make snow at every available opportunity during this cold streak.

Yesterday in The Scene was Volcom’s Peanut Butter & Rail Jam. With over 100 competitors and 3 different age and gender groups the riders charged the course leaving everything out there for the judges to decide who would podium for the chance to compete in the PB&RJ finals at the end of this season. At the end of the day it was Quinn Dubois in first, Joey Fava in second and Jordan Karach in third for boys 15 and under. For boys 16-21 it was Dillon McDaniels in 1st, Thomas Bacan in 2nd and Pat Fava received 3rd. In the Men’s Open class it was Chris Mullins who took home top honors with Simon sending it big for second and rounding off the podium was Jake Schiable. On the ladies side of things it was all about Melissa Evans who took home the gold, Jamie Madrid rode well all day for second and Miyeone Kim from Japan finished off the woman’s top three. Other recognitions went to Kody Williams for the Rev’d rider of the day and Lenny Mazzotti for Electric Visuals “Gooeyest Move of the Day”. Good luck to those competitors moving on to finals, and thanks to each and every competitor for coming out and making this a fun event! Video recap will be made by Volcom and posted on our Facebook page as soon as it is released.
