With seemingly unlimited options for outdoor activities along with a great lineup of music and other activities this weekend is sure to live up to the hype. There are too many events and activities lined up to list them all so I will highlight a few that are sure to be worth the effort.

The Silver Dollar is playing host to one of Jackson’s great bluegrass bands, Wood Smoke Rising. These local pickers will be bending your ears with traditional favorites, hard-driving covers and original string band music. Wood Smoke Rising are sure to get your toes tapping if not your boots scrapping up the dance floor. After you have had your fill at the Silver Dollar I recommend strolling around the town square. There is always a lot of activity at the shops, restaurants and bars on a summer’s evening. I plan to head over to Pinky G’s for a slice of pizza. Make sure to say hello to the friendly pizza slinger Trisha. She knows more jokes than anyone I know. If you are lucky and it isn’t too busy she just might tell you one.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Grand Adventure Park is in full swing so I plan to head out to Teton Village for a hike and maybe a few runs in the bike park. While I’m in the village I plan on taking my first run through the new Aerial Adventure Course which looks like a ropes course on steroids. If you haven’t taken a tram ride to the top of Rendezvous Peak you need to. The only way to get a better view of the valley and peaks is to climb one of the mountains yourself. While you are in the village stop by the shops and plan on lunch, happy hour or dinner at one of the great restaurants. You can’t go wrong in the village.
Sunday I suggest going out to breakfast. Whether you get a pastry from Persphone Bakery and start your day walking around the town square or decide to head to Wilson for a sitdown meal at Nora’s Fish Creek Station you will find that Jackson Hole is home to many outstanding breakfast options. After breakfast head over to Snow King for the Jackson Hole Mountain Games. JH Mountain Games is billed as an adventure festival that showcases all of the fun outdoor activities in Jackson Hole. The competition includes mountain biking, paragliding, trail running, bouldering and stand up paddleboarding. Sunday will see the majority of the competition taking place either at the base or in view of the base of Snow King. There will also be exhibits, vendors, a mountain bike demo by Santa Cruz and Julianna bikes and competition for the kids. You might as well plan on making a day of it (unless you plan on watching the US World Cup game at 4pm) because at 7pm Jackson Hole Live will kick off their summer concert series with performances from Anders Osborne as well as Black Mother Jones.
