COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. — August 1, 2016 — Summer fun is far from over at Copper Mountain. The August event calendar is jam-packed with Copper classics such as Guitar Town and Genuine Jazz & Wine, as well as brand new events including the Craft Beer Relay.
Copper Triangle Bicycle Tour, August 5-7
This spectacular 78-mile cycling event is one of the most important fundraisers benefiting the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s research. Since 2006, the Copper Triangle Tour has raised over $1 million for the Foundation. The Copper Triangle has long been considered one of Colorado’s classic alpine roads, sending riders over three mountain passes – Fremont Pass, Tennessee Pass and Vail Pass. On Friday, August 5th, roll into Burning Stones Plaza for a beer and live music by Umberto Fonte. Saturday, riders take off from Burning Stones Plaza from 5:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. For spectators, Vendor Village is the place to be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with sponsor tents, a post ride party and beer garden. Guitar Town, August 12-14
The world’s best guitarists are coming together at Copper Mountain for the 12th annual Guitar Town festival. This year’s festival includes three days of free performances, guitar and songwriting workshops and family activities. Friday, August 12th is the Guitar Town 2016 Kick-off Party with the Jimi Hendrix Revolution by Randy Hansen. Saturday, August 13th will be Acoustic Day, with performances by Frank Vignola, Martin Taylor, John Jorgenson Quintet, Laurence Juber, Joe Robinson and more. Sunday, August 14th will be Electric Day with featured artists Lee Ritenour, Robben Ford, Mark Selby and more. Rally for the Cure, August 12
Rally for the Cure is a grassroots program that works to educate women about breast cancer, as well as raise money for Susan G. Komen. Rally for the Cure is coming to Copper Mountain to spread awareness and fundraise through a golf tournament on the Copper Creek Golf Course. The Course will be open to the public all day for a discounted rate of $50, including a golf cart. Participants will also pay a $25 registration and prize fee – prizes include local merchandise and more! The format will be a 4-person scramble with on course contests. Ragnar Relay, August 12
Considered one of the hardest races in the Ragnar Relay Series, this overnight run has participants tackling single-track trails and backwoods roads. Teams depart Copper Mountain relay-style for a 200 mile journey ending at Snowmass Resort. Only one runner per team hits the road at a time, with each leg ranging between 3-10 miles and varying in difficulty. Those not up for the run itself can cheer on participants as they take on elevations of over 10,000 feet. 32nd Annual Genuine Jazz & Wine Festival, August 19-21
Delight your senses at the 32nd annual festival with amazing live jazz music and some of the country’s best wines. Mingle with jazz stars including Norman Brown, Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Marion Meadows and many more. All ticketed performances are held indoors in an intimate ballroom, so weather won’t make or break the day. National jazz talent is complemented by wine tastings and several food tasting options, all paired with a beautiful mountain background. Craft Beer Relay, August 20
A first-year event for Copper Mountain, this 5k-ish relay challenges skills and the palate. Navigate through obstacles, team games and individual challenges all while sampling the best craft beers in Colorado. Prizes will be awarded including best costume, best team name, fastest time and more. Before and after the race, check out the Craft Beer Festival in Burning Stones Plaza. Cider Circus, August 26-27
The Greatest Cider Show on Earth features artists, entertainers and aerialists – a unique spin on a craft beverage tasting event. The weekend kicks off with the Circus Sunset 5k on Friday, followed by the Big Top Cheese Pairing. Artisan food is expertly paired with craft cider, all while enjoying live music by Mountain Meadow Bluegrass.
