Athletes will Travel from Bear
Mountain to Seaside Reef State Beach to Del Mar Fairgrounds in Pursuit of the
2012 Crown and a $100,000 First Place Prize

August 23, 2011 (Santa Barbara, Calif.) – Tim Hoover, founder and CEO of
Ultimate Boarder®, the world’s only triathlon that challenges the best
crossover amateur and professional athletes from surfing, skateboarding and
snowboarding, today announced the dates and locations for the 2012 week-long
multisport series. Fifty athletes will compete for their share of the $150,000
prize purse, the largest in event history, with $100,000 going to the champion.

The fifth annual triathlon will kick off on Saturday, March 17 with the
snowboarding competition, returning to Bear Mountain, Calif., for the first
time since 2009. The action continues on to Seaside Reef in Cardiff, Calif.,
from March 19-23 for the surfing portion and finally finishes with
skateboarding March 24 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, where the 2012 Ultimate
Boarder®
Champion will be crowned. The event will conclude with a
live concert finale that evening.

“The entire Ultimate Boarder® family is incredibly excited about the
2012 event,” said Hoover, who conceived the idea of Ultimate Boarder® in
2005 and produced the first event in 2008. “Each year the production and
competition continues to evolve and grow. Now, with these terrific venues in
place, the interest we’ve already seen from potential broadcasters and sponsors
that want to be part of a truly one-of-a-kind sports entertainment experience
and a new generation of riders is incredibly promising.”

Rio Tanbara, director of marketing
at Big Bear Mountain Resorts, added: “We are honored to be the host resort for
the 2012 Ultimate Boarder® Championship. Bear
Mountain is unique to snowboarding due to its’ close proximity to epic surf and
skate locations you can surf, skate and snowboard in the same
day.  We are looking forward to March 17 when we will have the best board
riders in the world here at Bear Mountain.”

Having awarded $300,000 in cash and prizes to date and now presenting the
largest purse in history, Ultimate Boarder® continues to raise the
bar in search of the best crossover athlete in surf, skate, snow. The event
runs in an open format for solo entrants who are selected to compete in all
three categories and, unlike any other boardsport competition, the individual
with the lowest cumulative ranking (1st place = 1 point, etc.) across the three
disciplines wins first place.

The title of Ultimate Boarder® has become highly sought-after and the series
has grown to become a well-respected entity within the action sports world. Previous
solo and team competitors include three-time defending champion Chad Shetler,
who is joined by other high profile boarders such as Mike Morrissey, with whom
Shetler shared the 2010 title, Aaron Astorga, Steve Caballero, Curren Caples,
Tom Curren
, Dave Downing, Andy Finch, Christian Fletcher, Nathan Fletcher, John
John Florence
, Chas Guldemond, Omar Hassan, Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins, Christian
Hosoi
, Kazu Kokubo, Bjorn Leines, Andy Macdonald, Rob Machado, Shayne Pospisil,
Todd Richards, Adam Taylor, Shaun Tomson, Tosh Townend, Trevor Jacob, Zach

The event is open to the public. While the series takes place entirely in
Southern California, fans all over the country and world will be able to watch
as broadcast and live streaming negotiations are currently taking place.
