Men’s snowboard pipe finals is always the biggest and most attractive event of the Dew Tour weekend. People from Denver, Boulder, and around the country pour into Breckenridge, Colorado to see the high profile action. It was very interesting to see the flat light that the women competed in slowly break away; halfway through the first of two rounds, the sun was in full effect and it turned the competition into a perfect day. A combination of little to no wind, blue skies and warmer temperatures made this year’s halfpipe conditions exceptional. Out of the gate, Taylor Gold’s first hit was a massive method followed by a frontside 1260, backside double Michalchuck, air to fakie, cab 1080 into a frontside 1080 to put him in first place with a score of 90.50. Yiwei Zhang’s final run consisted of a gigantic backside air, frontside double cork 1080, cab double cork 1080, double crippler and a frontside 1080 scoring him an 88.75 and second place. Scotty James put together an alley-oop backside rodeo nosegrab, switch air to regular midway down and a cab double cork 1080 to lock down third place for the day with a score of 88.25.
