For the last two years, Nitro Snowboards has hosted one of the only remaining spring/summer snowboard camps in Europe together with Elooa at Kitzstienhorn, Austria. The idea is to bring most of the Nitro team together with regular snowboarders of all ages and skill levels to hangout for a week and just shred a custom snowboard park together. Nitro Team riders included Austin Smith, Marcus Kleveland, Elias Elhardt, Dominik Wagner, Benny Urban, Denis Bonus, Markus Keller, Sven Thorgren, Ludwig Biltoft, and many, many more. After snowboarding, the crew of over 240 people, consisting of campers (kids/parents and adults), pro riders, snowboard engineers, and the owners of Nitro and their family, would get together and play soccer, skate, compete in ping pong tournaments, BBQ, drink, and any other summer activity you can think of. During the Good Times camp, Nitro was also filming everyone for their new up and coming movie BOOM!, so the campers were able to witness and participate in the making of a snowboard movie, which was fun for everyone involved and a unique experience. Snowboarding is all about being out and about with your friends in the mountains, and it is just as important for professional snowboarders and companies to bring regular (“real”) snowboarders together and just ride.
The Good Times Camp took place from May 4-8th and we were lucky with pow the first day and sunny and slushy conditions the rest of the weekend. The only downside with the weather was that everyone probably got some sort of sunburn during the event. The park crew at Kitzsteinhorn custom built a full park for the camp, including a feature that got people wet, the Pond Skim Channel Gap. The pipe was also on point the whole week, which is a pretty rare thing to be able to ride in May, but that is when pipes are the best: slushy and forgiving. This was the perfect way to wrap up another great season of snowboarding and Nitro will continue to host the Good Times Camp every May for years to come.
