Last early winter, a crew assembled by Kyle Martin and Dragon Alliance embarked all across the western US, piled into a van taking on anything in their path. Fueled by late nights in the club and self-produced rap tracks, a new youthful energy arose. The tour consisted of many inside jokes, unique tricks, kids generally just going crazy, and a lot of fun boarding, all documented and bottled up into video masterpieces by Colton Feldman. Most of the crew claimed it was some of the best times they’ve had. This year the Dragon #WEAREFRAMELESS Tour is back, and we worldwide. The first stop takes place across the pond in a place we coined “God’s Country,” a little place called Austria.
Spencer Schubert, Forest Bailey, Tommy Gesme, Kyle Martin, Colton Feldman, and I journeyed over to meet up with the Euro crew: Gigi Ruf, Will Smith, Brage Richenberg, Niklas Mattsson, and Ollie Dutton. After the mere 100 foot elevation loss, and severe turbulence from the Austrian Air puddle jumper, we touched down safely in a valley of green rolling hills, sprinkled with authentic colorful architecture, all surrounded by giant, white mountainous peaks. We wasted no time and hit the Innsbruck skate plaza first thing. Afterward, we sat down for some lunch, the waitress greeted us and didn’t skip a beat, “Six beers!?” she belted. “We make here!” Before we said anything, she turned around and brought us some healthy steins. We cheersed, Kyle may have given a small speech, and the energy was back. Frameless Two was in full effect.
Our van brought us around the many snow-covered mountains and villages surrounding the Innsbruck area. The scenery was breathtaking, and there was plenty of opportunity in the air. Being the first trip of the year, everyone was hungry to get stuff done, but also was just getting back into the swing of things. There’s a lot I could rant about on this trip, but there is no use in breaking it all down. A couple highlights included a Tombo grass ride tomahawk, Gigi taking it to the streets, an acapella/slam poetry/rap battle circle-thing late night outside of the Hilton, Spencer going to the police station for stealing a shovel, dancing on the bar for Forest’s birthday, and other countless good times along the way.
There is something special about just winging it in a foreign country. Yes, we had a few obligations, but most of the time we were just on our own schedule. Everyone on the same page, the vibe just right. Check out the photos above and the video dropping tomorrow. I’ll leave you with a few quotes from the crew.
