The Andes are one of the most formidable mountain ranges in the world, boasting massive, jagged peaks and dotted with active volcanoes and shifting glaciers. In the Southern Hemisphere’s winter, they also boast powder stashes, insane lines, and the kinds of views that take your breath away. Craving a powder fix, Jake Blauvelt booked a ticket to Chile with lensman Nathan Avila to head out on an adventure and score fresh snow. The result is Discover Chile, a video project that deftly combines Blauvelt’s ability to paint lines down mountainous canvases and Avila’s visual articulation of Jake’s riding, the Chilean Andes, and the journey to combine the two. In the extended cut of Discover, join Jake and meet the people who made this experience possible, including Cristian Wehrhahn and Paulo Audisio of Dos Tiempos guide service.
“Experiencing Chile is a true treat,” said Jake. “Getting to roam the Andes on snowmobiles with Dos Tiempos and stay with a local family in Lo Valdes made it that much better. Can’t wait to get down there again!”
So sit back and take in the beauty of Chile via the lens of Nathan Avila and the snowboarding of Jake Blauvelt.
Directed by Nathan Avila of Collab Films.
