Billabong Flaunt It’s 9th season got underway with a successful first stop this past weekend at Mount St Louis, Ontario. Despite a very snowy forecast, visibility was good and conditions were soft and snowy. Thirty (30) competitors battled for the podium spots, with the French Connection sweeping up the top spots.
Quebec’s Laurie Blouin dominated the contest winning both the Slopestyle and the Rail Jam. Blouin’s run consisted of a board slide on the downrail, to a backside 5 on the first jump, followed by a switch underflip, topped off with a boardslide to fakie and a switch 50/50 backside 180. Quebec’s Anne Frederique Grenier followed in second with Baily MacDonald in third. Blouin won the rail jam with a backside nose blunt on the down tube, Baily MacDonald coming in close behind with a front tail 270 on the flat tube capping off the podium with Anne Frederique Grenier’s back nose pretzel on the flat tube.
Other highlights of the day included 16 year old Baily MacDonald’s frontside 7, and the 3 youngest competitors of the day impressing the crowds by stomping the 35ft jump with style.
