8 teams, too many games, injuries and parties, and finally locals coming out on top. That’s what the 2016 Atlantic Cup has been all about.
Around 100 snowboarders gathered in Biarritz last week for a few days of parties and soccer… Braving the typical Basque rain, a fair share of the top Euro snowboarders (Alex Tank, Mathieu Crepel, Nicolas Muller, Thomas Delfino…) were joined by industry vets (Drew Stevenson, Sani Alibabic, Youri Barneoud, Alexis de Tarade, Bizmut, Jason Horton, Ed Leigh…) with the fine excuse of playing football for 4 days.

As you imagine, this was not your typical football competition. Kids around the pitch, Metallica as the soundtrack, dogs ON the pitch, players changing team almost every game, only the 9am beers were a reminder of the traditional football spirit. Except that at The Atlantic Cup, beers are for the players.
The Atlantic Cup is a non-profit event organized by Florent de Maria, Xavier Marcou and pj Rueda. adidas has been kind enough to ship a full load of football gear for everyone : printed kits, balls and even shoes for everyone were on the menu. Thank you adidas. Coca-Cola provided enough drinks for everyone even if not a single can of Coke was seen around the pitches : it was all about Gatorade to stay hydrated during the games. Smart move.
