Winning the Zumiez 100k is a big deal. The annual event, designed to honor top sales people across all Zumiez locations, brings employees that sold $100,000 or more of merchandise to party, demo new product, meet action sports icons and Zumiez co-workers from across the country, and ultimately celebrate and reward the number one shop kid with laundry list of prizes that are nothing short of insane.
For several years, Nixon has offered the Zumiez 100k winner the opportunity of a lifetime; A trip to Nixon HQ in Encinitas, CA, to surf, hang with the Nixon team and design their very own, one-of-a-kind Nixon watch. The 2014 Zumiez top selling employee is 20-year-old Emily Ryser of Camano Island, WA. In her first year as a Zumiez employee, the rookie sold more merchandise than anyone else in the company—an unprecedented amount—totaling to over $700,000!
It's always exciting to meet the Zumiez 100k winner when they get to Nixon HQ and Emily did not disappoint. She had never been to California, so naturally we started the day off with a trip to Beacons Beach where the Nixon crew took her surfing for the first time. Then it was time for her to explore Nixon HQ and start designing her custom watch.
Turning dreams into reality
Emily had the choice to customize ANY Nixon watch with whatever colors, materials, and crazy ideas she could dream of—you can only imagine this was not an easy decision. Our watch designer took her through options for hours and ultimately arrived on a 42-20 Chono with white chromacoat and black accents, black sunray dial, magenta and glow-in-the-dark cyan details and a custom caseback.

Once Emily finished the watch concept, the hard part was over and it was time to meet the Nixon team. Surfers Rob Machado, Lisa Andersen and Josh Kerr were joined by snowboarder Todd Richards and musician Tristan Prettyman to take her out for lunch. She treated us to stories of her plans to ride elephants in Thailand, her treasured Nissan 300ZX and at one point tried to snag Mikey Taylor's phone number out of Todd Richards' phone.

After a trip back to HQ for the finishing touches on her custom watch, we closed the experience out with dinner at our favorite, authentic Mexican spot—another must on the list of first trip to California experiences. Emily was stoked to see her inbox full of congratulations sent by Nixon team riders from around the globe.
Nixon would like to offer our congratulations and thanks to Emily and all the Zumiez employees for flying the Nixon flag. We appreciate your support and can't wait to reveal our 100k grand prize for 2015!
