Winter Dew Tour Snowboard Superpipe Finals
This afternoon ends both the Men's and Women's Snowboard Superpipe Finals. Breckenridge was supposed to have only 2" of snow today, but instead it's been dumping all day with at least 6-8" right now - and it hasn't stopped.
Too Much Pow Makes a Slow Halfpipe
The great pow conditions weren't too great, though, for the competitors on the Superpipe. The fresh snow made the pipe pretty slow so the lineup of tricks weren't thrown as hard. Then the sound system totally went out after the Men's first run, a very uncomfortable silence, until Danny Davis (not competing due to an injury) grabbed a bullhorn and started a commentary. Kevin Pearce was also there to cheer on his "frends", although not able to ride. To keep spectators entertained they sent out the Toyota Yeti to ride the pipe.
Although the conditions weren't the best for the athletes and visibility was poor, most of the riders were still able to throw out some big tricks. Louie Vito had the best run, dominating the Men's Superpipe with a score of 90.25; while Queralt Castallet hit it hard and received 85.25 from the judges.
Tune in tomorrow for the Slopestyle Finals.
