The Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam Adds Three New Stops To Its Snow Meets Hip-Hop Nationwide Tour
The Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam Tour is a national ski and snowboard jam that mixes an exciting blend of urban hip hop culture that includes music, fashion and art with winter sports touching down in several resorts through out the country. Through out each competition there will be a unique style of events featuring open mic hip hop battles and graffiti art contests along with the ski and snowboard jam. In the past, previous winners of the open mic hip hop battle opened for Jay-Z at one of his concerts.
The ski and snowboard tour caters to the local skier and snowboarder community who get to register and compete in the event at each town the tour stops in. In previous years local entertainment has included music icons such as Slick Rick. The national ski and snowboard jam is a true unique blend of cultural interaction.
The Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam Tour Schedule
The grassroots snow competition series event dates are as follows:
January 1, Killington, Vt.*
January 8, Mountain Creek, N.J.
January 22, Raging Buffalo, Ill.
January 29, Echo Mountain, Colo.*
February 5, Arizona Snowbowl, Ariz.*
February 12, Bogus Basin, Idaho*
February 19, Mountain High, Calif.
February 26, Beech Mountain, N.C.
*New venues to the tour this year. Last year there were five stops (including Brighton, Utah) now there are three additional stops, for a total of eight stops, which include four new venues.
The Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam Competition Format and Features
The Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam draws aspiring amateur riders to resorts nationwide. Up to 150 riders per stop will compete in a winner takes all competition conducted in true jam format. Judges are present at all features to provide the best scoring coverage possible. Each division will be competing for cold, hard cash and additional prizes.
Hip-hop culture reigns supreme at the Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam where notorious graffiti crews offer up live painting demos and a freestyle MC competition pits eight local MCs against one another in "The Battle Below Zero."
The event's energy continues as each rail jam is followed by pulsating after-parties that feature the hottest DJs, break dance crews and live hip-hop performances. Events sponsors include some of the biggest names in fashion, action sports and technology such as Under Armour, Kangol, Bern, Beats by Dr. Dre, 33Third, Grenade and Launch Snowboards. At each stop of the tour, sponsors will have a presence to showcase their latest product lines and conduct giveaways for attendees.
