Jason Pastega, founder of Skout Natural Foods, recently
launched a line of natural food bars to the market - Skout Trailbars. Skout Trailbars are made in
Portland, Oregon with a carefully chosen handful of organic ingredients. These chewy-delicious natural
food bars were created to sustain those who embrace outdoor recreation to the fullest extent.
Skout Trailbars - Healthy, Natural and Good
Skout Trailbars are offered in five delectable flavor combinations: Cherry + Vanilla, Chocolate +
Coconut, Apple + Cinnamon, Blueberry + Almond, and Chocolate + Peanut Butter. Skout Natural Foods
sources local Northwest ingredients for its Trailbars when available, including cherries, apples,
blueberries and oats. Skout Trailbars are available for sale at over 200 locations in the Pacific Northwest
and beyond. Locations include New Seasons Market, Market of Choice, Made in Oregon, co-op grocery
stores and more.
Skout Natural Foods was born in 2008 when Jason Pastega tapped into his foodie roots [Pastega's family
owns a gourmet food store and beverage distribution centers in Oregon] and began developing recipes.
He then collaborated with the Oregon State University Food Innovation Center to perfect his products
and Skout Trailbars were born.
Jason Pastega explains, "Being raised in an environment surrounded with good food, I realized the
important role it plays in a living a healthy and full life. With Skout, I wanted to create great tasting,
healthy foods geared toward sustaining people on their outdoor pursuits."
Skout Natural Foods proudly donates a portion of proceeds to select environmental and humanitarian
charities. In June of 2010 Skout sponsored The Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon. Skout Natural
Foods is also committed to promoting environmental stewardship and employs sustainable practices.
Skout Natural Foods has developed a strong grass roots marketing effort on familiar social media
websites. To support the grass roots connection, Jason hits the road sampling his products at stores
throughout the Willamette Valley. Through product sampling and sharing his story online, he has built
a loyal consumer base for his products and is excited at the opportunity for future growth.
Jason Pastega graduated from Oregon State University in 1999 with a degree in Business. He lives in
Portland, Oregon with his beloved yellow lab, Scout, the inspiration for the name of his company [the
spelling of "Scout" was altered to protect her identity]. Jason spends his winters snowboarding in the
Cascades and Scout accompanies him on hikes in the Columbia Gorge and Coastal Range in the
summers.
By mid-2011, Skout Natural Foods plans to expand to additional locations in the Pacific Northwest and
across the country. Skout Natural Foods also aims to grow its product line to include a granola snack in
the near future.
