Kyle Phillips Named VP of Sales for Mervin Mfg

Posted: 08 Sep 2010 08:17 AM PDT Seattle, WA - Snowboard industry vet and former pro snowboarder, Kyle Phillips is suiting up for his new role as Mervin Manufacturing's Vice President of Sales. Kyle will oversee sales for all Mervin brands and categories including Lib-Tech, Gnu and Roxy reporting to Mervin GM, Ryan Hollis.

Kyle’s worked almost every job in the snowboard industry

"Kyle knows all of our brands inside and out. He understands how retail works on every level. But, most of all Kyle's a rider who can take shops and reps out in an conditions or any terrain and show them a great time," says Ryan Hollis, GM of Mervin.

The Northwest-native has been with Mervin for five years as the company's Northwest Sales Rep. During that time he tripled sales, while working with Mervin's product crew to develop new categories at the Sequim, WA factory. In addition to sales, Kyle will manage retail marketing including point of purchase and trade shows. While his main focus will be the Americas, he will work closely with global partners and distributors. Beyond snowboards, Kyle will also be working with to expand skate, binding and NAS sales.

"We've spent the last 25 years coming up with all sorts of ideas and naming them ridiculous things, now we're entrusting Kyle with talking retailers into buying them," says Pete Saari, VP of Marketing at Mervin. "Luckily after riding for nearly as long as we've been making boards he's ready to give up all the fame and glory to join us suits."

Kyle's worked almost every job in the snowboard industry including digging and coaching at Mt. Hood to a retail buyer and a pro rider. On the company side, he's managed a warehouse, worked at a factory and acted in all capacities of sales.

"Mervin has lead the industry in innovations for many years, builds environMentally friendly snowboards and skateboards here in the US, and has the best team of athletes and employees."

The 34-year-old's yelled "dropping" at the top of the US Open halfpipe for the first time when Kass was still a Jersey local. He's been racing boardercross gates, including an am win at the Baker Banked Slalom in 2001, since the days when Rice sipped hot cocoa in the base lodge between runs. Most recently he's been taunting coworkers with his Holy Oly Industry Ripper award.
