2011 LG Snowboard Jamboree - Stoneham Resort - Quebec Canada
Looking for a series of snowboarding events, but want an excuse to get away? Then plan to head over to Quebec City in Canada for the annual LG Snowboard Jamboree. It's the event in the region bringing over 40,000 spectators to the competitions.
The LG Snowboard Jamboree Competition Ran from February 14-20, 2011
The LG Snowboard Jamboree comps ran from February 14-20, 2011 where big names like Sebastien Toutant and Lindsey Jacobellis come in to compete in LG/FIS Snowboard World Cups. With both pro and amateur events, a lot is going on at once: Snowboard Cross, Big Air, Parallel Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, and more.
One of the highlights is the Big Air competition, which brought the event off the mountain and into the city. Crews worked on a massive setup that took over two months to assemble from the ground up to above the freeway bridge, closing the freeway for the competition. Not only was the ramp impressive, but the riders showed off their skills while flying down the ramp and launching big airs for points. Pretty amazing. Quebec City is French-speaking, but most Canadians speak English, so there was a lot of Fren-glish going on with the announcements. And the Canadians are definitely proud of those representing!
Back up at the Stoneham resort brings a series of other competitions. The Parallel Giant Slalom brought the most attention. With a combination of skiing and snowboarding, I'd like to throw the question out: what do you classify single skis as? If you ride one, are you a snowboarder or a skier? Whatever the case, be prepared to let your jaw drop as pros take it side to side as they fly down the course headfirst at top speed.
With the snowboarding events going on combined with total European culture, Quebec is an awesome place to be. It's also the hub for every sort of outdoor sport you can think of, with events going on all the time. Make sure to save a day to go snowmobiling, Quebec City is one of Canada's capitals for the sport. Save some cash, grab your passport, and pack your board so you can head out to next year's Snowboard Jamboree.

The Stoneham Resort Is The National Halfpipe Training Center in Quebec
The Stoneham resort, while small, is the prime mountain for the younger crowd and is also a coveted training destination for international teams. Stoneham is actually the only National Halfpipe Training Center in Quebec and on the east coast and will be hosting the 2013 World Snowboard Championships, the first qualifier for the 2014 Olympics in Russia. Another event everyone gets stoked about is the Red Bull Crashed Ice, where competitors race down the winding steep roads at high speeds on ice skates, said to "definitely have broken bones" by one enthusiastic spectator.
