How to:: Wax Your Snowboard

Waxing your board is one of the easiest things that you can do to increase the performance of your snowboard.

Before you start the waxing process clean the base of your board with cleaner or wax remover.

Fill any small dings or dents with a P-tex candle. Drip it less than an inch above the base of the board. Once it has cooled to room temperature scrape off the excess with your metal scraper.

The next step is to decide upon the correct wax for your riding conditions. There are all kinds of waxes on the market today for all kinds of snow conditions. Check your favorite wax company's selection to figure out what wax is right for the riding you are going to be doing. Then, using a hot iron, melt the wax onto the board. It should be hot, but not smoking.

Once a solid coat of wax is on the base rub the iron from tip to tail. This will even out the wax.

Using a plastic scraper remove all excess wax. To put the icing on the cake you can use an abrasive pad to rough up the wax and make it glide better.

It's easy, give it a try.
