7th Annual TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival
Announces
Dates and New Events
WHISTLER, BC, – Whistler’s
7th annual TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival (WSSF), a unique fusion
of sports events and music, will take place April 12-21, 2002.
In the tradition of presenting unique and innovative events, WSSF 2002 delivers
10 days and nights of high-energy sports, music and action. Cornerstone
events such as the World Skiing Invitational, the Pro Photographer
Search & Showdown, the free outdoor concert series, the Vert
Zone featuring BMX, in-line and skateboarding demonstrations, Super
Demo Days and the Kokanee Freeride club series, will return.
A new Filmmaker Showdown is being developed, and a Whistler-designed
World Snowboarding Invitational will be introduced, replacing the
Sims-sponsored World Snowboarding Championship, which is moving to a US
location.
“The growth of the Festival is an evolving, fluid process, one that
is guided by and reflective of the unique aspects of Whistler,” says
WSSF managing director, Doug Perry. “Each April, more and more people
flock here to check out the Festival sports action, take in great music,
and experience some of the best spring skiing and riding conditions in the
world.”
