California (Oct.18, 2008) - McCovey Cove will be the site of
the fourth annual Esurance ICER AIR, an action sports, music and lifestyle
event featuring the world’s best Olympic and X Games skiers and
snowboarders. The event will also feature freestyle motocross, skate,
BMX, headliner music acts, interactive exhibits and a beer garden.
“ICER AIR has
incredible momentum right now,” noted Griffin. “Growing from
humble beginnings on the streets of San Francisco to a lifestyle brand
in a few short years is remarkable. Each year, we strive to build on the
success of previous ICER AIR events, and we’re very excited about
future plans for a multi-city Esurance ICER AIR Tour starting in 2009.”
Esurance ICER AIR
2008 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18, from 12:00 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. at McCovey Cove’s Lot A, adjacent to AT&T Park,
on the San Francisco Embarcadero waterfront. As Esurance ICER AIR continues
to evolve, McCovey Cove’s Lot A venue provides the ideal setting
along San Francisco’s famed waterfront to create a comprehensive
lifestyle community, complete with Esurance ICER AIR’s signature
big air ski and snowboard competition.

Esurance ICER AIR
2008 includes a star-studded line-up of Olympic and X-Game athletes in
the arenas of ski, snowboard, skate, BMX and FMX Motocross. General admission
tickets are $28 and can be purchased at www.icerair.com. In addition,
family four packs offer a $24 savings and will also be available for purchase
for $88.
Esurance ICER AIR
is committed to being a responsible leader in environmental conservation
and is planning the following for the event: an extensive onsite recycling
program, marketing materials printed on recycled paper, plates, napkins
and cutlery made from recycled materials, onsite bicycle valets, an extensive
public transportation program, a “click n’ print” ticket
program to eliminate unnecessary delivery, and much more.
Partners for Esurance
ICER AIR 2008 include: Esurance, Chipotle, Comcast Sports Net, True Anthem,
Head, Whistler Blackcomb, The Stone Clinic, Wild 94.9, Freeskier, Transworld
Snowboarding, Spin, SF Weekly and San Francisco Magazine. A portion of
the proceeds generated from Esurance ICER AIR 2008 will benefit City of
Dreams, a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit organization dedicated to
helping low income youth through mentorship and youth development.

12:30-5:30 – Pro skate & BMX park competitions
1:00-1:30 – Freestyle motocross
1:30–3:30 – Big Air preliminary competition

Men’s Big Air Ski and Snowboard Competition
14 professional skiers and 14 professional snowboarders will compete
through two rounds. The preliminary round will be an open jam session
format and all athletes will jump as many times as they want for 2 hours.
The top seven skiers and snowboarders will advance to the second and
final round. In the final round, athletes will each have three jumps, with
the best score taking the top prize. Skiers and snowboarders will alternate
jumps, and jump order will be drawn randomly.
Freestyle Motocross Sessions
A complete ramp to ramp freestyle motocross display of backflips,
supermans and lazyboys will be performed by top X Games and Dew
Tour athletes.
Skate/BMX Park Competition
Riders will be put into heats of 10 riders per heat. Each heat will have an
exclusive practice session prior to starting. Riders will be given two 60
second runs. Best run scores count. Top 10 riders will advance to the
finals. Finals will consist of two 60 second runs, same as qualifying.
