Race to the Cup Schedule Announced for '07
"The Race to the Cup is important because it qualifies you for that next level of riding," said Erica Mueller (Steamboat Springs, CO), who made the jump to the national Team through the series. "It serves as the tour for development riders and clubs across the U.S., plus the Canadians always come down, along with a lot of World Cup riders, so it's really solid competition that helps you gauge where you are." Featuring both parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom competitions at each stop, the 2007 Race to the Cup series opens Nov. 20-21 at Copper Mountain, CO before heading up the road to Steamboat Springs Jan. 5-6 and concluding at Vermont's Bromley Mountain on March 10-11. In its third year, the Race to the Cup series has boosted riders like Mueller and 2006 PGS and PSL national champion Justin Reiter (Steamboat Springs, CO) to the U.S. Snowboarding Team and World Cup competition. "The Race to the Cup series was the perfect spring board for me to become an Olympian," said 2006 U.S. Team member Tyler Jewell (Sudbury, MA), "I think it is very important to learn to walk before you run and the Race to the Cup is a great foundation for all North American athletes gunning for the World Cup and Olympic Teams." The 2007 Race to the Cup schedule: Nov. 20-21 - Copper Mountain, CO Registration is now open for the Copper Mountain event, to secure your spot, log on to http://www.ussa.org/PublishingFolder/423_3166.htm.
