Mt. Hood, Oregon June 28, 2006- was a fine sunny day to go snowboarding on Mt Hood, OR for Bonfire Snowboarding’s 9th Annual Pipe to Pipe event hosted by Windells Snowboard camp. The event included a snowboard rail jam where the campers from both Windells and High Cascade snowboard camps had a chance to ride side by side with their favorite pros. The pros were competing for a $1,000 cash prize and campers competed for prizes from Bonfire, Snowboarder magazine and Monster Cable. Portland DJ, Atom 13 provided the beats during the rail jam while announcer Scotty “The Body” Conerly kept the event moving on the mic. In the evening Bonfire continued the fun with a BBQ hosted by Windells followed by the most heated skate bowl jam the camp has ever seen at their brand new concrete bowl. Local Oregon skate talent came out of the woodwork for this event for the chance at the $1,000 cash prize. The winner of the skate bowl jam was Medford, Oregon’s Steven Reeves. Much deserved for this talented local skateboarder. There were also some ladies that toughed out the 1-hour jam amongst the male dominated event. The 3 girls, Britney Talbot and Kerri Kerchurt from Portland, OR and Windell’s camper Becky Popiel, all skated their best and walked away with prizes from Monster Cable and Snowboarder magazine. The skate Bowl jam was followed up by an hour set from a local Portland band AFC (Another Fine Crisis) who played until the cops came by with complaints from the neighbors about the loud music. Thanks to the Sandy, OR police for their understanding.
