"Stance question"

I'm new to boarding and I've just learned to carve somewhat confidently. My setup is at +30 and +15. I was able to carve really aggressively on the toe side but a couple of times I had a little trouble getting back to my heel side.

Would going down to +21 +9 or +6 make getting back on my heels easier?

Make sure the highbacks on your bindings are semi-parallel to the heel edge

In general, it’s easier to carve with more steep angles. Maybe you just need practice. Many people find that they are better at toe-side when learning to skid. Maybe being on toes is more “natural” than leaning back on your heels? Dunno.

Also, since you’re “new to boarding”…read this to make sure you’re not confused between “carving” and “skidding”. There is a big difference as the former is an “advanced” technique.

In this video…notice how this dude’s trail is a thin line and he never “scrapes” the snow.

Thanks for making the distinction. I'm a long ways from what that guy was doing in the video.
