First decision is taken at the UBS Snowboard Finals Davos 2002: Switzerland is dominating the Alpine scene!

resort is a leading power in the snowboard sport with its international

the qualification runs in the disciplines Halfpipe and Duel were the main
attraction for all snowboard fans. Yesterday evening the final decisions
were taken: the night final of the Duel endowed with 50,000.—US$
was searching for a winner of the event and for the Alpine ISF World Champion.
Thousands of spectators gathered at the Bolgen to get inspired by the
creme de la creme of the snowboard sport.
The
perfectly prepared Duel slope with 21 gates challenged the racers, persistence,
discipline, tactic and best performance were asked. And the Swiss boarders
dominated the scene – the Swiss armada captured all pedestal places!
Neither the powerful Austrians nor French, Slovenians or Slovakians were
able to take over the lead. Gilles Jaquet underlined his well-deserved
World Champion title with this 3. Victory in the season at the night final
on the Bolgen. At the ladies, Ursula Bruhin climbed the throne as World
Champion but was beaten in the Davos final by the unexpected winner Perrine
Bühler. Present Olympic winner Philipp Schoch took the 5. Place and
was not able to jeopardise the final decision.
